Why Time Off Is So Good for Your Health

I won’t be the first to tell you that we live in an environment that feels like a race against time. Family, work, finances, well-being… and what about vacation?

What if vacations were the key to many of our ills?

Two weeks minimum

Ideally, it would take three weeks to let go and come back to work in good spirits. After all, it makes sense. The first week, it’s hard to forget the daily routine. Eventually, you get there, but the days go by and you wish you could slow down the time that passes so quickly. The second week, we enjoy every minute and we really start to rest. And the famous third week, which, by the way, few people allow themselves, we recover completely. Let’s say that to be ready for an effective return to work, we would need two to three consecutive weeks.

Vacation time is good for the employer

And these weeks are beneficial to both parties. When the employee returns from vacation, he or she is more productive, more attentive, more rested and more patient. Conclusion? Employers could allow their employees more vacation time than is required by law to maintain the employee’s full potential.

“It’s been… since I’ve taken a vacation”

Because, as we said before this article, balancing personal and professional life is, most of the time, quite a challenge. And, as you know better than anyone, fatigue affects stress levels. Not taking regular vacations and overdoing it can lead to burnout. Haven’t you ever heard someone tell you that they feel exhausted? And when asked when was the last time they took a vacation, it was two or even three years ago? Yes, you can be very dedicated and involved in your work. However, vacations are part of a balance and a healthy lifestyle.

I’ve known the years when it was good to say that we didn’t have time to take a break. And this was even more true for positions of responsibility. But mentalities have evolved in the right direction. There is a real awareness of the importance of taking care of ourselves. This includes physical activity, a healthy diet, and more recently, taking quality vacations. A break as a couple and another as a family. The ideal!

And you have to prepare for a quality vacation!

As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, three consecutive weeks would be ideal. But many people only enjoy two weeks a year. So when it comes time to take THE week off, it has to be perfect. So, to avoid exhausting ourselves before departure by organizing everything, we could entrust the organization of THE week of vacation to a professional. This time, we let go. We entrust our well-being to a travel agent and fly away for several days of absolute relaxation.

And if the experience was positive, as soon as you return, contact the magician of your vacation and share your comments. What you liked. What you would like on your next vacation. The travel agent knows your budget, your desires and by planning ahead, you could save a lot of money!
